2012 Resolutions

I've never been one to celebrate New Year's Day very much, and this year was no exception. I stayed up knitting until well past midnight but I didn't watch any of the countdown TV shows. I was lazy and didn't eat my black-eyed peas and ham for luck on New Year's Day, but I did manage to wear something red for good luck in my Chinese Zodiac year of the Dragon. I hope that means my luck will still be good for 2012.

I don't usually make resolutions for the new year since I believe tying a goal to a specific date leads to too much self-imposed pressure and thus makes resolutions really difficult to maintain. I am much more prone to think about my goals and decide to pursue them on any random weekday and that's worked out pretty well for me over the last few years.

I don't know why, but I did decide to make some crafty resolutions for 2012. I've been thinking about these things for quite some time, so maybe publishing them for my three readers (thanks Mom, Mike and Traci!) will help me achieve my goals.

Now I present, in no particular order, my 2012 resolutions:

1) Blog regularly - anything more than once every three months should be a good start.
2) No yarn buying until Stitches South in April 2012.
3) Use my pattern books more often.
4) Make at least six items for charity. My two chosen charities are Knots of Love and The Snuggles Project.
5) Knit one cardigan and one pullover for myself.
6) Knit one sweater for Mike.
7) Tackle my works in progress and have no more than three projects in progress at any given time.
8) Stick to my 12 in 2012 list.
9) Complete one knit along.
10) Sew at least twice a month.
11) Sew one complete project each month.

Many of these things go hand-in-hand, so I think I can achieve these goals. Good luck to everyone with a resolution for 2012!
